Ajax is a Greek tragedy written by Sophocles. The play tells the story of Ajax, a famous warrior in the Trojan War, who becomes consumed by anger and jealousy after he is denied the armor of Achilles. In his rage, Ajax plans to kill his commanding officers, but the goddess Athena intervenes and causes him to mistakenly slaughter a herd of cattle instead.
