DS Mel Daley is settling into her new life in Norfolk working with the regional murder squad, until one night her brother-in-law, Jimmy, turns up on her doorstep. Their reckless history is why she left her last job, but it seems she didn't move far enough. When the body of a young woman is found at a local farm the next day, Mel realises with a growing sense of horror that the victim looks like her sister, the sister who has just thrown Jimmy out.
