Publisher's Synopsis
Adventures in the Justice Factory is a collection of stories drawn from the author's tenure as a federal court interpreter assigned to the high-volume courtrooms of one of our busiest southern border judicial districts. With thousands of criminal cases processed yearly, the solemn administration of justice takes on the feel of a factory assembly line. Working in the courts, one encounters sadness every day. Whatever one's beliefs about crime and punishment, it is a sorry thing-with the exception of that small subset of truly dangerous criminals-to see human beings incarcerated instead of living free on earth. Along with the sadness, one frequently encounters humor, irony and basic human decency. Thank God for this! Without the ability to laugh, albeit dark and jaded at times, and without the sustaining camaraderie of wonderful colleagues, the author would not have lasted half as long as he did in the "justice factory."
