Dreher received a B.S. degree in secondary education from Southern Illinois University. She has been a schoolteacher, directed a Christian preschool, and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the East Central Illinois Baptist Association. Dreher has written children's curriculum for the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
