Publisher's Synopsis
This collection of papers drawn from Materials Week '93 held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, October 17-21, 1993. The 41 papers presented in this proceedings are organized in such a way as to reflect the way in which texture and microstructure can be studied in combination. The first section illustrates how texture and microscopy are being used to optimize process control in a production environment. This is effectively used for optimzation in both steel and aluminum production.;The second section focuses on how superplastic deformation processes can be understood and controlled. The final section demonstrates how texture and microstructure studies are increasing the fundamental understanding of slip and recrystallization mechanisms at elevated temperatures.
