Throughout the Scriptures, we are reminded of the need to abide in Christ and to have His Word abide in us. "Now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have boldness and not be ashamed before Him at His coming." -1 John 2:28 The Bible was intended to be read-not merely referenced. The biblical authors did not write their books and letters with the inclusion of distracting chapters and verses. While they can be helpful in some ways, more frequently than not they get in the way of observing the natural flow and structure of the Scriptures as conveyed by the authors through their writings.
