In the de velopment of their actions, we have endeavour; ed to show how remote causes bear upon the lives and destinies of individuals; thus ex; hibiting the mysterious wavs of Providence in producing results which, in the narrowness of man's perceptions, he may perhaps indistinctly anticipate, but cannot with certainty foresee.
