Shepherded by the Coalition, millions of people have been ushered into the technological behemoth known only as the Undercities. The Never-Ending War had engulfed their world. For 250 years they have lived, believing their home had paid a terrible price and that no one could ever return. Entire generations have lived and died never having seen the sun.
John grew up in the Undercities, like most, grinding each day away in a seemingly purposeless existence. Though fed and well cared for, no one was genuinely content. When the mutaphorms attacked, he and his companions knew they had been lied to. Bent on reaching the surface, John does the unthinkable and attempts to escape his gentle dystopia.
