Its 1944 and a farming couple on a Western Scottish island are presented with a unique opportunity to make some black market money for themselves and their friends. An opportunity that will go some way to taking their mind off the fact their pilot son is missing in action. Unfortunately, their money-making scheme involves the scrap value of a German reconnaissance plane that has crashed on their land, and more difficult, the issue of harbouring the young German pilot who finds himself unable to leave the island without exposing the whole scam. As time goes on it becomes increasingly clear that the pilot cannott be hidden forever, and how will they explain all this new found wealth during a war? The life and behaviour of the farmers unexpected guest draws uncomfortable emotional comparisons with their own son and an unknown parallel drama being played out elsewhere. . .
