After putting hours into finishing up a recently acquired houseboat, Shamus Pickford and old friend, Robert Dean, plan on taking her out for a much-needed weekend getaway during Robert Dean's visit. Roberts Dean is an outdoorsman who "Don't take no crap from anyone" and will "Activate some Smokey Mountain justice any time he feels fit!" Their designation: The Myakka Cutoff. What matters most this weekend is putting one of his oldest friends on some of the Cutoff's all-stars, so all preparations have been made. Everything goes as planned on the first night, as they anchor up on one of the Cutoff's most rewarding honey holes.
They catch and eat one of the harbor's most elusive inhabitants, and now satisfied, Robert Dean breaks out a mason jar of Apple Pie. After drifting asleep with full stomachs, they awake the next morning and begin a weekend of relaxation. It's not long after when palm fiber fouls out the propeller, leaving them stranded. This leads Shamus and Robert Dean on a journey to the deepest parts of the unknown, and untapped, Myakka Cutoff. Soon after, they come across what is believed to be poachers, but it turns out to be far from the truth.
