Publisher's Synopsis
Meg Fraser, widowed in the early weeks of World War I, has vowed to preserve the family farm for her son, Will, and daughter, Isobel; but has made a dangerous enemy in neighbor Dod Grant, who has designs on both the farm and her. He makes it plain that he can ruin the business if she continues to oppose him. Later, when Dod is found dead, Will is accused of the murder, and Isobel, distraught at the news that David, her fiancé, is missing in action, falls dangerously ill. Meg has to turn for help to the one man she thought she could never face again. It will take all her reserves of courage and resilience to bring the family through these difficult times.
