The Sumatran rainforest. A boy soldier, Hasan Bangkaru is caught in an ambush and wounded. He seeks refuge among the tall trees of the jungle, where he is nursed back to health by an extraordinary animal. Realising he has no real choices other than to flee the forest where he has spent all of his life, he heads towards the sea. There, on a desert island paradise, fate deals him the harshest of cards.
