Of Stutter?'elf in York/bird and from thence to the Earl of Scarborough, who would gladly have engaged him in his fervice, but his ambition to lerve the Duke of Semen/it would not (offer him to con tinue there and he frankly acquainted his Lordfhip with his intentions, and that he could ?ay with him no longer than a vacancy fhould happen in the Duke's houihold. It was not long before this fell out; and our young Steward foon difiirrguifhed himfelfin fach a manner, as to gain the chief Stewardfhip, and the favour of that nobleman, who honoured him with greater marks of efteem and conde i'cention, than he ever was known to thew to perfons of his condition.
