"For whatever times we don't see, our spirits shall live on through song and poetry." Poetry books are an attempt by artists to prove their existence to the world as well as hoping to spark a conversation with other writers or general readers. And A State of Wilderness is mine. A collection of writings (poems, short notes and general concepts) from my adolescent years detailing my journey to self-understanding, my filmmaking experiences, perceptions of culture and the wider world and other anecdotes relevant to the coming-of-age experience. For readers, it will offer an avenue to explore and understand my impressions of reality. But, as a writer, this book has been essential in encapsulating myself and proving myself as a poet. Not to other people, mind you, but to myself.
