I have ventured to print this little book, which con tains information concerning those who lived in St. Helena during the captivity Of Napoleon, with the hope that it may be found useful to those students who share with me the delight afforded by the study Of that period. The book consists Of notes in expanded form, collected from various sources in leisure hours extending over many years. Although great care has been taken to be accurate, no claim is made to infallibility, and doubt less the experienced reader will note, here and there, the inevitable errors and omissions, the correction Of which will be valued by me as a contribution to bistori cal accuracy.
