Josh Gerig has a physical disability and none of the advantages afforded by wealth, but he has a quiet peace and a clear purpose in his life that Dwight can't understand. There are two stories in one, which meet in the middle, and again at the end in exciting climax, both intertwined in the quest for Howe's march to the state football championship.
