Publisher's Synopsis
"A room and a coffee" gathers the texts written in English from the site/blog umquartoeumcafe.com. It is a natural sequence of the former book written in Portuguese, although the content might be a little bit more specialised. The texts included in this collection (Vol. 2) are different from "Um quarto e um café" (Portuguese edition). Below is part of the preface to explain to the reader what to expect.
"This is a book of ideas. Ideas that come from a quiet room with or without coffee - usually with. The texts range from a variety of topics concentrated in three main subjects: Science, Philosophy and Music. They are free writing texts, made to open my mind and organize my thoughts - and hopefully catch the attention of someone. I venture talking about what I have studied heavily, trying to bring examples and clarity. At the same time, I also write about impressions, moments, and feelings that I wanted to express through the words. All texts are from my personal blog/site "Um quarto e um café" (A room and a coffee), the ones written in English. There are texts from 2011 to 2017. They are organised in chronological order, from the most recent to the oldest. On each text I present the date of the original publication, the subject (science, philosophy, music, education), and key words at the end."
