Publisher's Synopsis
This is a review of Norwegian offshore based search and rescue helicopter operations. The Norwegian regulatory approach to offshore emergency response and the use of national SAR assets differ, in some areas, to that of the UKCS. However, it was found that to a large extent the proposal made for UK OBRR helicopter operations are similar in many respects to current and proposed offshore based offshore SAR activities in Norway. Where there are variations these are found in the detail rather than as fundamental departures from expected norms. This situation is not unsurprising because both the UK and Norway adopt similar approaches, regulatory requirements and industry standards for both the offshore and aviation industries.
