Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A Report of the Proceedings at the Celebration of the First Centennial Anniversary: Of the Incorporation of the Town of Buxton, Maine, Held at Buxton, Aug; 14, 1872

IT may be said to have been the suggestion of the lament ed Capt. William F. Goodwin, that the Buxton people should pay due reverence to their mother town at this ripe period of her years, and the inspiration, which the zeal of former resi dents was creating, made it a duty all the more imperative and of certain consequence to the citizens themselves.
