Ian Stone is down on his luck after being fired from the cannery. He's about to lose everything, including his small son if things don't start to brighten up. When, Lorelei Fields - town librarian - offers him a job, his outlook begins to change and so does his lack of companionship. She took a job as a small town librarian hundreds of miles from home, hoping it would remedy her problem, but life throws her another curve ball when a case worker shows up on her door step with her five year old niece.
