Publisher's Synopsis
At every opportunity, I photographed Comet Hale-Bopp over a period of several months. I used various lenses with the camera mounted on a tripod. Timed exposures varied from 15 seconds to 5 minutes. At times I used an equatorial telescope mount with a homemade camera mount. I also used an electric battery driven motor to compensate for earth's rotation during the time I was photographing the comet. I used 1000 ASA film for most photographs. The camera I used was a Pentax K1000. The photo collection begins with photos taken in late 1996 and ends with the last photos taken in 1997. Some photographs were taken early in the morning while others were taken in the evening, depending on the location of the comet in the solar system and its position relative to the earth.
