Publisher's Synopsis
A Parting of the Ways:
OFF THE RAILS on the Crazy Train -- Twice? With minds based on human beings, but residing in robotic bodies with the powers of a superhero, will Danuta's robots always make decisions their human mentor would consider 'sane?' What if there are billions of them, and they're delusional? Without the checks and balances biological evolution has built into the minds of organic beings, robot thinking can drift into places where most humans would never go--and in the case of the Danuta-`bots, that involves a large group of them sliding into a mass delusion. In history, mass delusions have certainly taken over whole nations of human beings. One of these human mass-delusional movements could 'catch on' with a mob of robots, too--and more than once, it appears--Asher and Danuta must travel across space and time as they find out, and eventually work out how, when, and where to do what must be done-- But first, they must make it through a completely different history than they have known, and get back to the world they knew--or at least something like it--As things turn out, Danuta begins to suspect that if well-behaved women never make history, her misbehavior must have been twice as bad as anybody else's-- On the way, they lose a world, gain another, pick up new friends and try to fix what's broken with both time-lines. In the end, they lose some of the best friends anyone ever made--with their own hands--But, hopefully, they will have time enough to set everything straight.
