The story takes them first on a journey to aid in the development of the first multi-universal Jalopy, then follows them as they use this Jalopy to search for Elbina. On Earth's parallel planet Thera, they meet a cohort of fun-loving and dastardly characters. What the McHubbards discover is a world not unlike their own, but with its own personalised twist. Problems start to escalate out of proportion when aspects of Earth and Thera collide...
