DI Hillary Greene is not a happy woman. Not only has her corrupt husband died, leaving her in the mire, but she's been reduced to living on a relative's canal boat. Things seem to perk up, however, when her boss assigns her the case of a body found dead in a canal lock. He's sure that it will turn out to be nothing more than a drunken holiday-maker meeting an unfortunate end. But when Hillary's investigation throws up some far more sinister elements, she's abruptly sidelined on her own case! As fate seems to throw more and more obstacles in her path, Hillary becomes determined to get to the bottom of this mystery one way or another!
