"A Mist in the Pines" is the second novella in a trilogy that begins with "Jesse McCann." The story continues into 1913, in the rugged East Texas saw mill town of Morgans Bluff where nothing is ever as it appears. Jesse's wife, Annie, owner of Morgans Mills and mother to their twenty year old daughter Katie, is expecting their second child. Life is at last peaceful and prosperous. Suddenly everything changes. An old adversary and mill violence brings conflict and danger into their serene life. Just as all seems lost, a surprising secret spirit returns to protect against evil forces surrounding Jesse and his unborn child.
