Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Memorial Address: Delivered at the Request of the City Council of Boston at the Installation of a Bronze Statue of Admiral Farragut in the Marine Park, June 28, 1893
If the early biography of Admiral Farragut be limi ted and simple (and so far as I know, outside of public documents, it is chie?y embodied in a volume written by his son, Mr. Loyall Farragut, of New York, and in another by Captain A. T. Malian, from each of which I have drawn liberally in the preparation of this address), if, I say, it be limited and simple, it is also singularly picturesque, romantic, and providential; indeed, from first to last, his career appears to have been guided and directed by an inscrutable Providence, which led his associates and followers to say so often that he had a charmed life.
