But in the publication many delays have occurred. Some of them I have taken no pains to obviate, as. They concerned the convenience of my publisher: meantime, while the third sheet was in the press, I was informed that a Life of More, by the hand of the late Sir James Mackin tosh, had appeared in the twenty-first volume of Dr. Lardner's Cyclopaedia. Had this occurred at an earlier stage of the business, I should, of course, have re nounced my own attempt; especially, as I had the great pleasure of finding Sir J ames's views similar to my own on the point in question.
