It's not easy being black in an overwhelmingly white industry, but even when the going gets tough, Jackie keeps her eye on the big prize - promotion to executive editor. Besides that, her biggest problem is her unrequited love for Victor Bell, a member of her weekly professional group. This is her most pressing concern until the morning her boss is suddenly murdered.
