Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Loan Collection of Decorative Bindings, Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Other Bibliographical Specimens From the Libraries of Philadelphia
This is a copy of the first edition of the Saur Bible. It is very rare to find a complete copy, and this lacks 50 pages at the beginning. It was rebound, for presentation, by Christopher E. Sower, and has been annotated in the margins by some previous owner. It follows Luther's translation, and was limited to 1200 copies of 1284 pages. It was three years in press, and was the first Bible published in this country, except Eliot's Indian Bible.
