Publisher's Synopsis
THE Author of the little work now offered to the public, is very well kno, vll in Italy by his ascetic writings, and deserves to be universally so, as those who read his "Little Treatise on the Little Virtues" will readily admit. The Abbe Roberti, gifted with great refinenlent of mind and delicacy of feeling, has succeeded in giving to a subject which, at the first glance, may appear dry, a singular interest and unspeakable charm by the graces of his style and beauty of his language. To benefit, in a spiritual way, the numerous religious communities spread, happily, through our own and other countries, is the only motive which has engaged us to publish this little work; for it seemed that we could put nothing more useful or consoling into the hands of persons who live together in one house, and are united under one rule. Yet its usefulness is not confined to communities alone; for, though it is written for a young religious, it suits equally well all ages and all conditions of society
