Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Life Awry, Vol. 1 of 3: A Novel
A driving storm of rain was falling. Sweep ing far away to the distant drifted like silver spray over the country, moistening the yellow corn as it passed, washing the dusty hedgerows till their leaves grew clear and glistened. The pale grey soil of the morning was changed to a dull rich brown; here and there in the cart-ruts lay dingy puddles, into which the big splashing drops fell with hoister ous vigour.
