Publisher's Synopsis
This is a critical edition, with introduction, afterword, and notes, of forty-one poems written by one or more women in England and first published in one of the earliest Carribean newsparers, the 'Barbados Gazette'. The poems are of interest not only for thier quality, but becasue they challenge widely held preconcpetions about eighteenth-century verse.
