Twenty-four-year-old Nubia is a good girl from the streets of Richmond in the Bay Area, who strives to come out on top. She takes her mother and aunts guidance to be better than them to heart. She does everything they didn't by going to college and staying away from Hoodlums, even the one who holds her heart in his hands. But she quickly learns just because someone looks perfect doesn't mean they are, when she meets the devil behind the suit and tie, Wayne. Although he comes from the suburbs Wayne's intentions are anything but good. Nubia, quickly learns that her mistake was thinking Wayne and the suburbs were better for her and her career. And then there is MarQuez who has her heart. Nubia, quickly learns the life lesson just because something is a mistake for someone else doesn't mean it is for her, but is this lesson too late? MarQuez is fresh out of the pen after serving five years for attempted murder, a crime he didn't commit. He dives head first back into the streets with his brother Jabari right by his side and their childhood friend Kay. When MarQuez finally tries to go legit, it crumbles right before his eyes, so he takes back to the streets by taking over his father's distribution business along with his brother. He has his mother, brother, and the daughter he never knew he had by his side on this hardcore ride. However, the one person he needs, Nubia is nowhere to be found. She has always been there for him no matter what, but the one time he needs her the most she's not there. MarQuez is ready to give up on Nubia, but he knows he can't when he learns of the secrets she hid from him.
