Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A History of George W. Murray, and His Long Confinement at Andersonville, Georgia: Also the Starvation and Death of His Three Brothers at the Same Place

I was born in the small town of Bovina, in Dela ware County, New York. At the early age of two years, my parents came to' the city of Springfield, Massachusetts, where I remained until I arrived to the age of manhood. In the mean time I learned the trade of a pattern-maker. I was the youngest of four brothers, and like all other younger children, I was the pet of the family, and for that reason I never left home until after I was twenty years of age, when my father and mother both died and left me without a home.
