Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A Guide Book Containing Information for Intending Settlers

Ah intending emigrant should have above all things good health, and be stout-hearted. A man who comes to work should be prepared to do anything at first that comes to his hand; and he should try to adapt himself to the ways of the new country in Which he has placed his lot. He may have many things to. Unlearn, and also to learn, and especially he should learn to follow the practices proved to be wise, by the experience of the new country to which he goes, rather than make any attempt to push them aside by the use of the practices of the old country which he has left. This is a truth which men always in the end come to find out, and many have done so through disappointments which might have been avoided.
