It's winter in Utah and a snowstorm is creating blizzard conditions. Stephen wonders who could be knocking at his front door. It's a young child with no coat and no other adults accompanying her. Stephen is a single father who lost the love of his life; his daughter Stephanie. It was the December 17th and Stephen had given Stephanie a brand new sports car for her 18th birthday. Stephanie didn't make it home that day and Stephen's world is forever changed.

Along with the help of a dove that overheard her mother, Stephanie, declare that this year things would be different, figures out that it wasn't different. Joanna finds out exactly what would give both her mother and grandfather back their joy. You see, the day Stephanie left was December 17th, which is both of their birthdays. The excitement of this, along with Christmas was their favorite time of year together. Joanna soon figures out that her mother had a special birthday gift for her father, but couldn't give it to him, before she had to died.
