Length eight inches. Bill purplish red, the end dusky; the whole head, and fore part of the neck yellowish white, inclined to dusky on the crown upper part of the body fine pale ash-colour wings and tail glossy black; base of the quills white, forming a spot on the outer part of the wing; bastard wing white; tail two inches and a half long, even at the end the under parts of the body the same as the upper, but paler, and nearly white at the vent; legs reddish, or pale yellow.
