Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Genealogy of the Descendants of Widow Martha Beard of Milford, Conn
The originator of this Beard genealogy was Rev. John Gunn Beard, of Ellington, Conn. He collected and verified many of the early records of the family. After his death, his widow gave the papers to Rev. Willard L. Beard, of Foochow, China, to arrange, but he did not find the time to do the necessary work. Mrs. Martha Clark and Miss Emily Beard, of Milford, Conn., next undertook the task, but ill health prevented their compiling the book. Then the records were placed in my hands for completion.
In collecting and arranging these records, care has been taken to verify, as far as possible, the dates of births, marriages and deaths and other statements.
