Publisher's Synopsis

The 75th HAA Regiment was a Territorial unit recruited in the Folkestone - Dover - Ashford - Thanet districts of Kent between 1937 - 39. From 24th August 1939, when the Regiment was mobilised in readiness for the war which was declared on 3rd September following, to 25th November 1940, when it left East Kent in order to help defend the important industrial towns of Sheffield and Derby, it occupied various anti-aircraft gun positions at Dover, Folkestone, Hawkinge, Deal, Sandwich and Manston, in the defence of East Kent against air attack. The guns of the Regiment were in constant action by day and night from May - November 1940, in other words, before, during and after the the "official" dates of the Battle of Britain, which ran only from 10th July 1940 to the following 31st October. This is one almost the only book to treat the events of those days in detail from a non-RAF point of view, and includes some reasoned criticisms of hitherto generally-accepted ideas about the battle.
