Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A Funeral Sermon, Occasioned by the Death of the Late Horace Holden

He was a mourner with those who mourned. He would scarcely have been human, had not his spirit been troubled within him, and had he not learned to weep with them that weep. He feels an interest in those he loves in all their af?ictions he is af?icted. His tears at the grave were human tears they came from-a heart that was full to over?owing. He took man's na ture that he might suffer with men when they were sufferers, and care for them when they were outcasts. He felt it to be a privilege to mingle his tears with these weeping and orphan sisters. It was a relief to his own affectionate heart to enter into their calamity and share their sorrows.
