Publisher's Synopsis
Jack is a young boy who lives on the twenty-seventh floor of a skyscraper in the city. He enjoys playing football and riding bikes with his friends after school, but he is a lonely child. Jack's parents build skyscrapers and never seem to have extra time to spend with him.
On the last day of school before summer vacation, Jack is walking home through the park. He meets a man in a red suit with a red umbrella sitting on a park bench. Despite his parents' warnings about talking to strangers, he is immediately drawn to this sad character. Jack strikes up a conversation and discovers that this man is from The Shining Star. He is depressed because his friends left without him. The Red Man will be trapped here for another year unless he can bake a gloom cake and make a wish. But the ingredients for this cake are not items that can be found on earth, or can they?
Jack jumps into the man's magical umbrella where both are able to shrink themselves and fly through the skies. They go on a magical journey that will bring them to Niniva where they will find A Blue Man who has caused much mischief to the townspeople. They search for Monkeybread Nuts, Giggle Cherries, Balloon Melons, Wonder Apples, and Fortune Peas.
Will Jack succeed in his quest to help The Red Man return to his home?
Can Jack find a solution to his own loneliness?
