Ihave come to the country for hard work. I am to spend my summer searching the town re cords, reading the court-rolls, comparing deeds and wills, untill can construct anew and with legal cer tainty the Wycherly genealogy, and until we may know whether or not our client Bradford is the rightful heir. It is not often that a lawyer here, in our new America, has to go back two centuries and a half, more or less, to get at the rights and wrongs of a suit brought only a month or two ago. But so it is, and if the Richard Wycherly who is said to have lived in this little town about the time of the Pequot War, and who was the elder brother of the Walter Wycherly, serving as aide to Colonel Nicolls when New Amsterdam sur rendered - if this Wycherly died without Children or if none of his issue survive to this day, then our client, John Bradford, Esq., of Eastbourne, Eng land, a direct descendant of the younger brother.
