Publisher's Synopsis

It is summer in Paris, and the pavement rumbles with the footfall of marching soldiers along the Champs-Elysees. The city has fallen to the Nazis, and the dwindling Parisian hope lies with a small group of brave revolutionaries: the French Resistance. Amongst this group of insurgents, is the young, struggling writer, Samuel Beckett, for whom life is about to change drastically. He finds himself embroiled in the rebel effort and in love with a left-wing revolutionary. Beckett begins to work as a courier for the Resistance, and spends the next few years in constant danger, and narrowly avoiding capture by the Gestapo.
