A veteran of the Vietnam War, Jon January, seeks to escape himself in a quest for a soul mate while struggling to make peace with his troubled past. As a mercenary Jon embarks on Operation Gingerbread Man, a guns-for-drugs deal to supply Central American rebel forces fighting to oust a dictatorial regime friendly to the crumbling Soviet Empire with M16 rifles being smuggled by a Near Eastern gun-runner in exchange for cocaine. His and his comrades-in-arms survival depends on whether they can complete their operation successfully by eluding the forces of destruction threatening to annihilate them. Through their connection with a drug cartel, a native tribe on the verge of extinction via genocide swallows him up with its powerful mysterious practices; thereby, giving him long-needed insight into himself as a person.
