So great a treasure being thus acquired, it was resolved that it should not be unemployed.-the Four Gospels were considered the best speci mens of the work that could be printed, to try its reception and its adaptation for general use. The types which had been formed by Ludolf himself were procured from Germany, and various characters were altered, under the direction of Professor Lee, to a nearer imitation of Ethiopic calligraphy.
