Publisher's Synopsis
A Black Boy Misunderstood is a memoir about a boy named Jy'Quan Arnay Stewart, who was raised in Rensselaer, New York, by his mother, Lakeisha Stewart, and was misunderstood and falsely accused at the Rensselaer City School Districts because he had brain damage. Jy'Quan's father, Lewis Watkins, was never in his life. He had no one to look up to and had a lousy upbringing. During his childhood, he experienced rejection by his family, friends, and teachers. Jy'Quan suffered a false mental health diagnosis of Paranoid Schizophrenia that had him sent to a particular school in Castleton, New York. People around him, like police, teachers, and psychologists, thought he was dangerous and would mostly end up as a criminal.
