Denise, a social worker and co-worker of the child's mother, narrates this heart-breaking tale. The story is certainly compelling. However, the writing is not the best. The book was filled with errors in punctuation, grammar, spelling and inappropriate word usage, which severely hampers the credibility of the author.
It is is a heart-wrenching nonfiction story about how one little girl paid the ultimate price of child abuse, death, and the circumstances surrounding it.
The author takes us into the every day horrors of the child welfare system and gives voice not only to the little girl, in which she befriends, but to all children that can't tell their stories. She also delves into the psychology and seemingly unaffected ways of the mother (and once friend); as well as how this tragedy severely affected herself and those around her.
