She meets Jack the Jaguar, Boris the Tapir, Tom the Armadillo, Bea the Bee, and Ana the Spider. At last, Ana has the perfect solution. She spins a magical ñandutí, traditional woven lace named for a spider's web. As Ana spins, the animal friends play together.
When the ñandutí is completed, Fini is dazzled by the brilliant colors and intricate design, and she learns its magic enhances the inner beauty of the wearer. Fini's scratches are still visible through the lace, but now she can see THE BEAUTY OF A BROKEN SHELL.
This story, for children ages 3 - 8, teaches about the wildlife and cultural heritage of Paraguay and offers a lesson about self-love.
