Publisher's Synopsis
The second and final sequel to HONEYMOON WITH HARRY, (the second novel aptly titled, THE SECOND HONEYMOON WITH HARRY), THE LAST HONEYMOON WITH HARRY, finds big-hearted, hard-headed, Todd Cartwright storming through life on the Caribbean Island of St. Carlos, one questionable decision after another. Be it in his "marriage" to his never-to-be father-in-law, the irascible Harry Everett (yes, you read that right...) who understands Todd better than anyone, or with the woman Todd loves, the beautiful, practical, Kat. who is the mother of Todd's child, and still questions her feelings for him. Or with his sexually active, teenage son, Earl, for whom Todd may or may not be the best role model. Or with the gracious Viola, the restauranteur who offers Todd both friendship and a professional lifeline.
Just as Todd feels he's finding his footing in life, the sand is pulled out from under his flip-flops when his estranged father, Kent, arrives on the island with his very young and very pregnant girlfriend, Everly, Todd's plate is already full with caring for Harry, embarking on a business venture with Viola, and keeping his son's affair with an older, wealthy woman a secret from Kat. While Todd itches to know why his father has shown up on St. Carlos, he knows for the well-being of his family and himself, it is best to keep Kent and Everly at arm's length until they exit the island. But when someone tries to put a bullet in Todd's head, he cannot help but believe that this has something to do with his father. He just can't figure out who, what or why... Everything gets immensely more complicated when Kent skips out on his pregnant girlfriend, setting in motion a wild, hilarious string of events where uneasy truths are revealed. When Kat discovers the secrets that Todd has been holding it blows their relationship all to hell. And as if that isn't painful enough for Todd, life gets messier and more infuriating when Harry uncovers Kent's devious, get-rich-quick scheme, where Todd is the patsy. But everything is slammed into perspective when Todd suffers the second greatest loss in his life. He loses the person he hated most but came to love deeply, a man who became more of a father to him than his own father ever could. Todd learned about being a parent, about being a man, from Harry Everett. And that knowledge is going to come in handy, when Everly gives birth to her child on the island, and then leaves the newborn on Kat's doorstep three days later. Todd has had enough. With his life turned inside out, Todd vows to protect this baby, not only from his father but from Everly's parents who arrive on St. Carlos to lay claim to the child. Barrelling forward the only way Todd knows how, fists up and sarcasm blazing. When Kat decides that she and Todd should adopt the baby, Todd agrees under one condition. That he and Kat get married and become a family. But first, Todd must finish things with his father. Kent makes it easy when he breaks into Kat's house to steal the infant and sell him to Everly's parents. But this time, Todd is a step ahead - thanks to Harry's shocking suggestion. Todd sends his father away without the child but with a beating that's been a lifetime in the making. Todd surprises Kat with an impromptu wedding at Buckingham Fountain in Chicago, where they have come to grant Harry his final wishes. Todd recognizes that he may always face obstacles in his own unique, blustering manner, he has become the man that Tami, Harry's daughter and Todd's first love, always knew he could be. He's married to a woman he loves, father to two children, and now a business owner. Todd may never find the peace that has always eluded him, but he has found something he never thought he would: happiness.
