Un día antes de la ansiada ofensiva sobre la Normandía ocupada, el soldado James Villalobos es reasignado a una unidad secreta de reciente creación, alejándole de su unidad, la 101 ° Aerotransportada, y dando al traste con el sacrificio realizado durante más de dos años de exigente entrenamiento junto a sus compañeros de armas.
La misión, que deberá realizar junto a otros cinco desconocidos, comporta un elevado riesgo y muy poca importancia estratégica para el desarrollo de la contienda, por lo que James no se muestra muy satisfecho con el traslado. Aún así la unidad Pantocrátor salta sobre Normandía compartiendo las adversidades del ejército aerotransportado aliado en una de las mayores ofensivas de la historia militar; logra avanzar tras las líneas enemigas y descubre que su misión, aparentemente sencilla, esconde una maraña de traición, codicia y asesinatos, que le sitúa en el núcleo estratégico de un terrible conflicto entre los dos bandos contendientes. Y todo ello tras el enigmático secreto que se oculta tras "Los dedos de Aignes".
